Democratic and Republican Senators, along with the Bush Administration, are currently negotiating compromise immigration reform legislation which could be considered on the floor of the U.S. Senate beginning the week of May 14. Should these negotiations falter, the Democratic leadership could choose to bring the STRIVE Act, or a similar bill, to the floor for immediate consideration. It is important that you contact your Senators in the next few days and ask for their support for a just and humane immigration reform bill.

    USCCB Position. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and other organizational members of the Justice for Immigrants (JFI) Campaign are working to ensure that any compromise immigration legislation includes the principles set forth by the U.S. bishops. Any legislation which would warrant USCCB support would include:
    1. a legalization program for the undocumented which includes family unity and a realistic path to citizenship;
    2. a new worker program with worker protections and a path to citizenship; and
    3. the preservation of family reunification as a cornerstone of our immigration system and the elimination of family backlogs and waiting times.

    I and my wife have been SCREAMING, FIGHTING for over four years now. We are now so frustrated that we have EVEN DISCUSSED THINGS LIKE TAKING UP OUR LIVES !!! I really mean it. For both of us, our career is the single most important thing.
    We had decided to wait for our next step in life like having a kid or putting in a big investment till we both at least have a job. Inspite of both of us having Masters degress from US universities, we are both suffering - me languishing in a filthy job and my wife on H4 - for the past 5 years !!! She is now more than 35 making it difficult to have kids etc...
    I don't have the choice of going back to my home country due to many other personal reasons. I just don't know what to do... I am losing my sanity.

    Some racists could have intelligence! I am hesitant to put you in that category yet... So I wouldn't call you racist yet.... But may be an Ignorant for now ;-).... Prove it and work your way up to racist !!! You already have an advantage to become a racist with that mindset.

    Don't make stupid statements like this. It goes to show your intelligence and that you are an instigator. With statements like that you will alienate EB3 more. BTW, I contributed to DC advocacy and many other EB3s also did the same. That money apparently seemed to have have helped EB2 and not EB3.

    Regarding you comment on action, many IV leaders are EB3.

    I am not sure your point will be taken seriously by anyone with this kind of language. If you didn't mean to be taken seriously, then well... you are right on point. You all must have read the thread EB2-EB3 predictions. The thread is most popular for the very reason that members refrained from such language.

    Coming to this thread, I empathize EB3 position. I guess I would feel the same if spillover was helping EB2 all along and recently changed to help another category. So, how do you get everyone to support any initiative that will surely hurt the other half.

    Since Spillover rules are left to USCIS for interpretation, whatever way they interpret, it is sure to hurt one or the other category. So, why not concentrate on action items which unites us all, rather than dividing us, like VISA recapture, abolishing country quota, not using quota against dependents etc. Think about it.

    Thanks for your reply. Lawyer sent 140 to Texas. But, it was transfered to NSC and got a receipt from NSC for 140. Do you think it is transferred to CSC not toTSC?

    Any lobbying for immigration is tough at the time of recession. I think you are trying to do advocacy effort. Without getting approval from core IV group it will not be any use as advocacy effort only will not work. Senators will note your concerns and will act only if some bill is introduced. You need lobbying with advocacy effort for changing any law. Lobbyists will lobby only at right time as if they do in wrong time it will backfire.

    I called on friday. Had to explain the lady that as per press-release, my receipt number should be issued. After 20 minutes of discussions, she escalated my call to another officer. She checked the database with my name, DOB and A# but she could not find any thing related to I-485.

    Point1) makes me perplexed - Can there be agreements with open ended
    time periods.

    But whatever is the exit strategy i will end up paying almost $10,000 as lawyer fees.

    There are many points on which this agreement can be defended.
    1. No fixed time period. Staying upto 1 year after getting GC is same as saying work until the car engine for the company CEO's car goes out. Nobody can predict either one.
    2. Usually waiver of filing lawsuit by employee involves sum of money for its consideration. Many employer pay employee month salary (or part/multiple) to offer agreement for not suing. Agreement terms without consideration are usually null and void. For example, I can't have agreement with you that you will deliver free newspaper without stating consideration/compensation for you.
    3. Company can claim for GC Expenses and other related expenses if employee leaves within reasonable and agreed period. So probably $10,000 is in the agreement to cover that.

    Now for the bad news, defending this agreement could cost much more than $10,000, besides time and hassles. More so, if employee and employer are in two different states as employer can file suit in their state. In short, $10,000 is cost of moving out of this job at the time of your choice. You could also look at it as the added cost of GC.

    I suggest you should consider making a plan to move in your life and career. As they say, freedom is priceless.

    Why SKULL bill ? As a high level manager I have learned after years of experience that you need to use good sense of humor, satirize when confronted with insanities and very stressful situations.

    I appreciate your effort to make us smile and relieve stress but when you repeateldly
    keep using the same stuff, people no longer find it humorous.
    You too must have realized it by now as people have started questioning why
    you are using this word repeatedly.

    It is like telling the same joke time and again and expect people to laugh everytime.
